Is there a Dinghy refer-a-friend scheme?

Yes there is indeed! It’s a great way to supplement your income. Find out more here.

What’s the reward for referring a friend?

When you refer a friend and they buy a policy, after their third successful monthly payment both you and your friend are each eligible for £15 worth of either Amazon or John Lewis / Waitrose vouchers.

Why do I have to wait for three payments? Can’t I get the voucher immediately?

Dinghy is here to genuinely make things better for freelancers when it comes to insurance. We’re not a big corporation, so it’s really important that we grow with customers who will join us on this journey for the longer term. That’s why we’re offering a little thanks with vouchers to customers who’ve stuck with us.

How do I choose which vouchers I get?

As soon as you’re eligible to receive vouchers, we will be in touch to ask you if you would prefer either Amazon or John Lewis / Waitrose vouchers. Once you let us know you let us know, we’ll send them right out to you!

I already signed up on the basis of Amazon vouchers, can I choose John Lewis ones instead?

As long as you haven’t already received the vouchers, you’ll be able to pick which voucher type you like as soon as you’re eligible – even if you signed up when only Amazon ones were on offer.

Can I cut down my freelancing and just sell referrals?

Unfortunately FCA rules state that you may not bring in the majority of your income via referral rewards and indeed have strict limits on the number of referrals any customer can make before it in itself is considered a regulated activity. The spirit of this scheme is as a little extra thanks to you as a bit of supplementary income. If you’re concerned that you’re getting close to most of your income coming from referrals, please get in touch with us ASAP.
